Campus Recreation

Movement is important for the mind! Staying active as part of your collegiate experience helps keep your brain fit and focused as well.

Where to begin! At Ohio University, you’ll never be left wanting for a club or activity based around your favorite type of movement. (And if there isn’t one available, you can apply to organize one yourself!)

Ping Center

All your fun and fitness needs are under one roof at the Charles J. Ping Student Recreation Center. The 168,000-square-foot building stretches across three floors, and is fully accessible and ADA compliant, so it really does have something for everyone. Enjoy the 36-foot, double-sided climbing wall, five basketball/volleyball courts, two multi-purpose gymnasiums, an elevated four-lane indoor running track, eight racquetball courts and an enclosed glass fitness area. Ping Center also provides free weights, aerobics, fitness, combative sports, dance, and meeting rooms. Want more? Ping also offers group fitness sessions, group fitness workshops, fitness assessments, personal training, massage services, nutrition services, personal training, and fitness events throughout the year.

For the sustainability minded, check out the Precor Ellipticals located in the Cardio Lookout and generate Green Power at Ping.

Club Sports

Test out your leadership skills by participating in a club sport. Each individual club is student-run and establishes an organizational framework, leadership, and schedule to meet the members' needs. Many of the clubs compete at the state and national level. Check out rowing, rugby, water polo, fencing, MMA, synchronized swimming, ultimate frisbee, waterskiing, Quidditch (yes, you read that right) and more!

Intramural Sports

A nearly 125-year tradition at Ohio University, intramural sports offer individual, dual, and team sports for men, women, and coed teams in a variety of seasonal league and tournament formats. Soccer, volleyball, basketball, kickball, flag football, and broomball are just a few of the intense and fun activities available in the fall and spring.

But wait, there’s more!

Work on your lap time at the Aquatic Center, try out your ice skating skills at Bird Arena, or hit the links at Ohio University’s Golf Course. (Don’t worry about that wicked slice. The University also has a driving range.) Have an adventure with Outdoor Pursuits, or get outside and play some volleyball, basketball, tennis, disc golf, and more.
