Name: Megan Brejcha15 Knh2699

Major(s): Management Information Systems and Management & Strategic Leadership

Class year: 2017

Why did you choose Ohio University? :

I came to visit one of my friends when I was a senior in high school and I fell in love with the campus and the atmosphere.

How did you choose your major(s)? :

I took a career exploration class at the local community college when I was in high school, where we did a bunch of inventory and personality assessments. Management came up in all of them, so I knew I wanted to explore it further.

How has your involvement in student organizations/select programs added to your education? :

Emerging Leaders and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) have both helped shape me as an individual. My classes are great, but these organizations help me develop skills that I can use in the workforce.

What is your favorite class in the College of Business?:

I’ve had a few favorites but right now my favorite class is Management 3400 with Professor Stoner. He’s an incredible professor and organizational behavior is really interesting. The fact that he’s so passionate about the field and gets everyone in the class so engaged makes it a great learning atmosphere.

Which College of Business mentor/faculty/staff member has had a positive influence on your education? :

Tracy Corrigan, assistant director, Office of Career Management. She was the first faculty member I really interacted with in the College of Business. She was my learning community leader when I was a freshman and my BA 2000 professor sophomore year. I’ve also met with her as an advisor; she really helped me with my transition to college and has been a good source of motivation and encouragement.

How has your College of Business experience shaped you as a student? :

The Cluster has really shaped me as a student. I learned all about time management and how to work effectively in a team environment. That semester really shaped me as a student. I am a much more effective worker now because of it.

What are your career goals? :

My plan right now is to move back home to Cleveland after graduation to watch my nieces and nephews grow up and gain some professional experience. Long-term, I’d like to find a medium-sized company to work for.

Where is your favorite place to hang out on campus/in Athens? :

My favorite place is probably Donkey Coffee because of the atmosphere and people. I really like the second floor patio as well!

What do you and your friends do for fun on campus? :

It depends on the season, but we love going to hockey games and other sports events. On Tuesdays we like going to the How-to Series in Baker Center where they teach you how to do different things every week, like crafts or DIY projects.

What is your favorite thing to eat on campus/in Athens? :

Big Mamma’s Burritos. Hands down.

What do you like best about living in Athens? :

The different “feels” of the town. Over the summer it’s much more calm and you can stroll down Court Street at a leisurely pace. Once all the students return, there is this awesome buzz around town.

Why should a prospective student consider Ohio University’s College of Business? :

There are many reasons, but one of the big things is the faculty. They all really want to help students. A lot of the professors come from non-academic backgrounds and have experience in big companies, which is so important.
