Name: Elisabeth Rosenfeld
Major: Full-time MBA
Class year: 2016
Why did you choose Ohio University? :
I liked that the program was not solely geared towards business majors.
I have no business background and I wanted to be in a program with
a diverse group of students who bring ideas from different educational backgrounds and professional experiences.
How has your involvement in student organizations/select programs added to your education? :
Being on multiple executive boards has helped me gain important leadership skills that are really useful in a leadership-focused program like the MBA. We do a lot of group work and having those skills has been invaluable.
What is your favorite class in the College of Business? :
My favorite class so far has been accounting for executives with Dr. Kirch. He made the content in the class extremely relatable and exciting to learn.
Which College of Business mentor/faculty/staff member has had a positive influence on your education? :
Kelsey Rodgers, assistant director of admissions for graduate programs, has been a great mentor to me. She motivates me to work hard and recognizes my efforts when I do so, which I really appreciate.
How has your College of Business experience shaped you as a student? :
It’s made me a lot more aware of how to act professionally. I have a much better understanding of the professional work environment and what is expected both of me and the people that I work with.
Do you feel prepared to enter the workforce? :
After I complete my MBA, I’ll have a good breadth of knowledge of the business world and will be able to make smart business decisions using sound logic and reasoning from my education.
What are your career goals? :
I’m really interested in pursuing marketing and branding strategy. I would like to help businesses develop a strong brand that is unique to them and adds value to their customers and stakeholders.
Where is your favorite place to hang out on campus/in Athens? :
Jackie-O’s. I really like the atmosphere and the blend of students and Athens residents.
What do you and your friends do for fun on campus? :
There are a lot of things that happen on campus that I feel like people don’t always know about. I try to see shows that come to town, different sporting events, and the how-to sessions at Baker on Wednesdays. That’s where I learned how to knit!
What is your favorite thing to eat on campus/in Athens? :
Bagel Street Deli. I get the MacGyger every time.
What do you like best about living in Athens? :
I love the community because everyone is so warm. You can talk or smile at anyone and you’ll always get a nice response.
Why should a prospective student consider Ohio University’s College of Business? :
If you’re looking for a holistic program that offers a great sense of community, then the College of Business is the right program for you.
