Why did you choose Ohio University? :

I fell in love with the campus and the opportunities that are available in the College of Business. I was really excited by programs like Select Leaders, which gives students the opportunity to meet with executives and professionals in interesting fields.

How did you choose your major(s)? :

I own and operate a dog grooming business and I enjoyed the marketing aspect of the business. I always felt like it made the biggest impact on my company’s success so I wanted to learn more about it.

How has your involvement in student organizations/select programs added to your education? :

They have provided me with a wide range of opportunities that I never knew existed. They also helped me with how to carry myself and act in professional settings. Finally, they provided me with a great chance to network and get internships that I wouldn’t have without connections I’ve formed through the student organizations.

What is your favorite class in the College of Business? :

Organizational Behavior with Dr. Jason Stoner. I have been able to apply what I learned in different organizations on campus. Dr. Stoner is also a very engaging professor and gives great examples through stories.

Which College of Business mentor/faculty/staff member has had a positive influence on your education? :

Tim Reynolds is my mentor for Select Leaders and has been a confidant for me. He encouraged me to pursue the Strategic Leadership Certificate and he has really challenged me and helped me grow as a student and young professional.

How has your College of Business experience shaped you as a student? :

I feel more confident expressing myself and talking to people who are higher up in organizations. I used to be a pretty shy person, but with all the hands-on experiences and different opportunities over the last four years my confidence has grown in a big way.

Do you feel prepared to enter the workforce?

Absolutely. Through my internships I’ve been able to take on more difficult projects because of my experience at the College of Business.

What are your career goals?

I have a few goals I’d like to accomplish. First, I plan on growing my dog grooming business. I also want to go to graduate school for a program in student affairs, focusing on the career and leadership side. Eventually, I’d like to get a Ph.D. in organizational behavior.

Where is your favorite place to hang out on campus/in Athens? :

My favorite place in Athens is Casa Nueva. It has a good mix of students and Athens residents and the food is amazing.

What do you and your friends do for fun on campus?

We take part in different activities like ice skating, or hiking around the Ridges.

What is your favorite thing to eat on campus/in Athens?

Either Casa Nueva or the “Banana Peel” at Bagel Street Deli.

What do you like best about living in Athens?

I really enjoy the small town feel of Athens while still being part of a larger university. I also love the beauty of the campus!
