Dr. Adam Rapp gave us the inside scoop on the 19th Annual Schey Sales Symposium.
The Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre is celebrating its 19th Annual Schey Sales Symposium on Thursday, Nov. 3. This unique opportunity allows students and professionals to learn from high-energy speakers, consultants, and trainers who have worked with Fortune 500 companies around the world.
We’ve asked Executive Director Dr. Adam Rapp to share what he thinks we should expect at the upcoming event. Here’s what he had to say:
How does it feel to celebrate the 19th Annual Schey Sales Symposium?
It’s incredible to look back on how far the Sales Centre has come since 1997 when we only had a few faculty members and six sales students. This year, the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre welcomed its largest class of 138 new student hires.
Not only is the Centre growing, but our annual symposium is only getting bigger. This year we expect to host more than 300 guests and have an impressive lineup of academic and industry leaders to present on topics around coaching, cultivating, and communicating within the workplace.
What session topics can we expect at this year’s symposium?
I’m excited to host an interactive session called Goal Setting and Achievement. We’ll deep dive into the importance of setting goals and developing a plan to achieve those goals. If you’re too familiar with the stress that comes from hoping you’ll reach your goals, then this session is for you. We’ll learn how to back into our goals and achieve great things.
You’ll also hear from experts in leadership and sales, including Owner of the Leadership and Training Studio Erin Fischer, Professor of Marketing at The University of Alabama Dr. Nick Panagopoulos, Vice President of Training and Development at Quicken Loans Tony Nuckolls, and Ohio University’s very own Tim Reynolds, executive director of the Robert D. Walter Center for Strategic Leadership and executive-in-residence of management.
Who should attend the Schey Sales Symposium?
The Schey Sales Symposium is a professional development and networking event for our students, alumni and College of Business partners. Our speaker panel includes academic and industry experts to give our guests a variety of perspectives. The symposium sessions are also meant to be impactful. We want you to walk away with very tactical and actionable information that applies to all industries.
What is your favorite part about the Schey Sales Symposium?
The student TED Talks are my favorite part! We host an internal competition within the sales program to determine our lineup. Out of nearly 400 students, we pick the top three and invite them to present their TED style talks in front of everyone. These talks are impactful, powerful, and relevant. Last year we heard about failure, leadership, happiness and Millennials, just to name a few. But don’t take my word for it, come and see for yourself.
