Students transferring into the College of Business from within Ohio University

The College of Business allows a limited number of students from other Ohio University academic colleges to apply for transfer into the College of Business for the purpose of earning a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree or Bachelor of Sport Management (BSM) degree.

Transferring After One Semester

    • Your cumulative GPA must be no less than 3.0 with at least 15 Ohio University semester hours.
    • You must have successfully completed ENG 1510 or 1610 and ONE of the following courses with a grade of no less than “C”: 
      • ECON 1030 Principles of Microeconomics
      • ECON 1040 Principles of Macroeconomics 

Transferring After Two or More Semesters

    • Your cumulative GPA must be no less than 2.75 with at least 24 Ohio University semester hours.
    • You must have successfully completed ENG 1510 or 1610 and ONE of the following courses with a grade of no less than “C”: 
      • ECON 1030 Principles of Microeconomics
      • ECON 1040 Principles of Macroeconomics

Additional Transfer Requirements for International Students

  • You must also provide evidence that you meet the College of Business English proficiency requirements below by completing the following additional requirements:
  • Successful completion of two courses that demonstrate ability to read and write at the collegiate level. NOTE: Coursework in the following disciplines have been accepted in the past: Psychology (excluding statistic courses), History, Sociology, Philosophy, Political Science, and Anthropology. These courses must have been completed at a college or university at which English is the language of instruction.
  • AND ONE of the following:
    • A paper-based TOEFL score of at least 525 (5+ on composition).
    • A grade of no less than “A-” in OPIE D970 “OPIE 8-Hour Bridge A”
    • A grade of no less than “C” in OPIE D970 “ and a grade of no less than “B-“ in OPIE 980 “OPIE 8-Hour Bridge B”

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • You must be enrolled in the college before your senior year to allow for the CoB 45-hour residency requirement. You must earn at least 50 percent of the business credit hours required for the business degree at Ohio University.  The College of Business reserves the right to limit transfer admission as necessary to meet enrollment limits.    

TO APPLY FOR ADMISSION TO THE COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

Current Ohio University students may use the on-line application to apply for “next-semester” admission to the College of Business according to the following deadlines:

  • FALL AND SPRING – Apply from the third week of each semester until the first day of the following term
  • SUMMER - The on-line application is open is open all summer until the first day of fall semester.       

UPON ADMISSION TO THE COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

Course Requirements

  • All students whose first semester of OHIO coursework occurs fall 2016-2017, must enroll in the seven credit-hour COPELAND CORE learning community that includes: UC 1900 (1), BA 1000 (1). BA 1500 (2), BA 1100 (3)
  • Students starting in 2015-2016 and previous undergraduate catalogs must enroll in BA 1000 (1) in their first term of CoB enrollment and should follow the curriculum detailed in their Undergraduate Catalog.   

International students transferring into the College of Business from within Ohio University

International students must provide evidence that they meet the College of Business English proficiency requirements by completing the following additional prerequisites:

  • Successful completion of two courses that demonstrate ability to read and write at the collegiate level.Coursework in the following disciplines have been accepted in the past: Psychology (excluding statistic courses), History, Sociology, Political Science, and Anthropology. These course must have been completed at a college or university at which English is the language of instruction.
  • AND one of the following:
    • A paper-based TOEFL score of at least 525 (50+ on composition).
    • A grade of no less than “A-” in OPIE D970 - OPIE 8-Hour Bridge A
    • A grade of no less than “C” in OPIE D970 and a grade of no less than “B-” in OPIE D980

First-year OHIO students may apply only during the month of April. Online applications for freshmen are available from April 1-30. The College of Business admissions committee reviews applications after grades are available at the close of spring semester. All applicants will be notified of the final transfer decision by email around July 1.

Sophomore and junior OHIO students may apply any semester using a Transfer Application during the term in which they are completing the prerequisite courses listed above. Final transfer decisions will be made each semester, soon after grades are available for that term. 

Residency requirement: You must be enrolled in the College of Business before your senior year to allow for the College's 32-hour residency requirement. You must earn at least 50 percent of the business credit hours required for the business degree at Ohio University.

Transferring into a College of Business Program from outside Ohio University

Admission to the College of Business from an institution outside of Ohio University is selective. Students wishing to transfer may complete Transfer Application for consideration.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must have completed courses equivalent to:

  • ECON 1030 or ECON 1040 or MATH 1350
  • ENG 1510 or ENG 1610

You must also have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale) from the transferring institution.

International students must provide documentation that confirms they have achieved a paper-based TOEFL score of at least 525 (no sub-score below 52).

The College of Business limits transfer credit for required business courses to those courses it offers. Other transfer credit will be evaluated as business or non-business electives. Ohio University requires that at least 50 percent of coursework for a major, minor, or certificate must be completed at Ohio University. The College reserves the right to limit transfer admission as necessary to meet enrollment limits.
