Why did you choose Ohio University? :
While it sounds a bit cliché, I fell in love with the campus the first time I visited. I really enjoyed the college town atmosphere and the sense of community on campus. Having a highly ranked College of Business made the decision even easier.
How did you choose your majors? :
I spoke to different students and alumni in the fields I was interested in. Learning about upper-level courses of each major, as well as how they translate to the real world following graduation, helped me make a decision.
How has your involvement in student organizations/select programs added to your education? :
My involvement in Select Leaders, Ohio University Student Equity Management Group (OUSEMG), and Delta Sigma Pi has entirely shaped my college experience. Not only have I met some of my best friends through these organizations, I’ve also had opportunities to meet with executives in various industries across the country. Moreover, I have benefited from different self-assessments and industry tools, like Bloomberg.
Which College of Business mentor/faculty/staff member has had a positive influence on your education? :
Tim and Tammy Reynolds. They are both very welcoming and always give good advice.
How has your College of Business experience shaped you as a student? :
It’s made me much more passionate about self-learning. We’re given a great base of knowledge in the classroom and surrounded by resources to build upon it to create our own unique experience.
Do you feel prepared to enter the workforce?
Yes, definitely. Because of different coursework and leadership opportunities, I’m not only prepared, but also capable of competing with students from other schools.
What are your career goals? :
I would like to start my career in an area of finance focusing on investments in a client-facing role. At some point down the road, I’d like to return to grad school to work on an MBA. Beyond that, I can see myself going in a couple directions, whether it is with a large company, a start-up, or even in government and public policy.
Where is your favorite place to hang out on campus/in Athens? :
The patio at Jackie O’s.
What is your favorite thing to eat on campus/in Athens?
Buffalo chicken pizza at Courtside.
What do you like best about living in Athens?
It’s everything you could want out of a college experience: a beautiful campus with everything in walking distance, and there is never a dull moment.
Why should a prospective student consider Ohio University’s College of Business?
Every student has the ability to shape his or her own experience. It’s very easy to connect with faculty members. There’s a different student organization for just about every field of interest, which allows you to travel, get exposure to different industries, and to ultimately land your dream job.
