This Select Leader says her extensive internship and student organization experience have prepared her to enter the workforce. Meet MIS senior Sarah Zablotney.

Why did you choose Ohio University? : I was accepted into the business school right away and I fell in love with the campus.
How did you choose your major(s)? : After taking cluster, I spoke with Dr. Vic Matta a lot and he told me all the benefits of MIS.
How has your involvement in student organizations/select programs (OUSEMG, Select Leaders, etc.) added to your education? : I applied to be a member of Select Leaders because I loved what the org stood for. It allows you to learn about yourself and develop personal skills in leadership and development that you can apply to your life and future.
What kind of real-world experience did you get from your internship? : Professionalism in the work place, applied experiences, communication skills, and a greater understanding of the business world, responsibility
What is your favorite class in the College of Business and why? : MIS 4800, it is the capstone course and the culmination of all that we’ve learned. Professor Giordano is great at bringing it all together and having meaningful class discussions.
Which College of Business mentor/faculty/staff member has had a positive influence on your education? How so? : Dr. Matta was phenomenal. He is such an understanding professor and willing to help out in any way he is able. He has a great way of communicating and getting the point across. I also really enjoyed Tim and Tammy Reynolds as the professors in charge of Select. They have a lot of great experience that was helpful in the organization. They are so open-minded and willing to listen to any of our problems or needs. Both of them have a great personality and make us feel comfortable to approach them about anything.
How has your College of Business experience shaped you as a student? : I feel as though I have become a better person and young professional after having experienced the College of Business. I have gained all the tools necessary to be put into the work force and I also have the confidence in my ability to do so. I learned a lot from being involved within the CoB and having had internships these past three summers.
Do you feel prepared to enter the workforce? How so? : Yes. Internships have prepared me, along with being in Select Leaders, CoB Connect, and DSP.
What are your career goals? : Become CISA certified, be happy in my career, and excel in every way I am able.
Where is your favorite place to hang out on campus/in Athens? : The bike/running trails
What do you and your friends do for fun on campus? : Try new restaurants together
What is your favorite thing to eat on campus/in Athens? : Brennan’s
What do you like best about living in Athens? : I love the quaintness of the community. Everyone is happy to be in Athens and they get to share it with everyone else.
