2008 Master of Sports Administration Alumnus will be honored on June 10th at the fifteenth annual 'Changing the Face of Leadership' lunch.
Chris Sinclair, a 2008 OHIO Master of Sports Administration graduate and president of The Anthem Group, has been selected by the UMass Center for Collaborative Leadership as a recipient of the 2016 Leading the Way award. The award will be presented at the 15th annual Changing the Face of Leadership Lunch .
The award was established by the UMass Center of Collaborative Leaderhip to recognize successful entreprenuerial leaders who serve their community. The award luncheon will feature former U.S. Congressman Marty Meehan, and other dignitaries from the business, non-profit, and government communities.
Sinclair founded The Anthem Group when he was a teenager, long before his graduation from Ohio University. Since his graduation in 2008, The Anthem Group has continually expanded and grown into a multi industry enterprise primarily focused on the live entertainment, large-scale event production, experiential marketing, and hospitality industries. However, Anthem is also active in public space and placemaking activation, venture capital, strategic planning and consulting, and business incubation for entrepreneurs.
One critical event that Sinclair developed during his time in the Master of Sports Administration program was the Athem International Music Festival (IMF), which launched fully after his graduation. The festival is an annual, multinational music series spanning 70 markets across the globe. The Anthem IMF is open to musicians in every genre with an emphasis on providing genuine exposure for talent. The festival has strong philanthropic roots, with each festival raising funds and awareness for a revolving non-profit organization. Net proceeds from the festival benefit The Musary, a revolutionary instrument library. The IMF also supports multiple international children’s organizations and NGOs.
in addition to his work as President and CEO of Anthem, Sinclair serves as the Chair for Action for Boston Community Development’s (ABCD) Hoop Dreams basketball tournament, which is co-hosted by LA Clippers' and Boston Celtics' head coaches Doc Rivers and Brad Stevens. Hoop Dreams raises funds and awareness for ABCD’s WorkSMART program, which helps inner-city youth build experience in the workplace while finishing their high school diplomas.
Earlier in his career, Sinclair was the recipient of The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s prestigious Director’s Leadership Award. This award is presented annually by the FBI on behalf of (former) FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III. The FBI created the award in 1990 as a way to honor individuals and organizations for their exceptional efforts in combating crime, terrorism, and drugs and engaging the community in the areas of education and prevention.
