Copeland Hall’s second floor has been transformed into an homage to Business Bobcats and Ohio University as part of the Athens-wide Paint the Town Green competition, sponsored by the Student Alumni Board and Campus Involvement Center in preparation for Ohio University’s Homecoming celebration this weekend.
The College’s main display is a floor-to-ceiling field goal post, surrounded by posters of College of Business faculty and staff. The post is accompanied by a concession stand, which will be serving popcorn and hot dogs, and collecting non-perishable food donations for the Athens County Food Pantry Tues., Oct. 6 between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Students and staff are invited to come cheer on our submission and support the College as the display is judged, beginning at 11 a.m.
Each department on the second floor, including Business Services, Student Services, the Office of Career Management, and the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre, was responsible for a section in the overall display.
“Everyone contributed and it’s been a great team-building competition,” said Connie Sharp, administrative service associate. “Everyone was excited to be a part of it. Business Bobcats rallied around the central theme and did their part to make it great.”
The College’s display features quotes from faculty and students about their experiences at Ohio University. It also includes walls featuring a football game, cheering section, tailgate party, and parade. To top it off, College of Business student organizations crafted a parade of miniature floats.
The displays use mainly recycled materials to make the elaborate displays. ”We really wanted to make a great display while also being waste free. We recycled cardboard where we could and used different recycled materials for our displays,” said Sharp.
