Executive Engagement: Students Stick to the Man
This past fall, 20 Business Honors students seized the opportunity meet with Dana Conover, the director of marketing and innovation at Elmer’s Products in Columbus, Ohio. In small groups, students met with Mr. Conover to discuss his own career path as well as marketing in the corporate environment.
Mr. Conover’s current responsibilities are to find and develop adhesive technologies that can be commercialized for the school/office, craft and DIY/hardware consumers. He received his MBA and BBA degrees from Wichita State University. Dana began his 20 year career at Crayola with positions in Finance, Operations, and Marketing. His experience includes marketing leadership roles for two entrepreneurial ventures - a toy company, with licenses from Disney and Warner Bros, plus a company making decorative paint for crafters. He has been at Elmer’s since 2004.
“The opportunity to speak with Mr. Conover was incredibly informative,” said sophomore Zach Vaughn, “He really knows his stuff.”
The purpose of these sessions is to expose the program members to the corporate world, and to build both a network and networking skills, so that every student is prepared for when their college lives end, and their real lives begin.
