JenniferOur 2018-19 College of Business Ambassadors share stories about how the college has supported them throughout their academic journey. This week, we connected with Jennifer Vance, a first-year ambassador.

Vance’s interest in working closely with others fueled her pursuit of a career in marketing or management. Eventually, she wants to work her way to an account manager so she can cultivate deeper relationships with clients.

“I know I’ll enjoy any career where I can help people solve problems by connecting them with the right product or service,” she said.

The College of Business has supported her a great deal during her busy semesters.

“The professors and faculty members that push me to be the best version of myself every day,” Vance said.

Vance calls Copeland Hall her “second home” and wants to help more students feel as comfortable as she does in the learning environment. She looks forward to answering questions from high school students and their parents to, hopefully, bring in more Business Bobcats.

Once these new students actually arrive on campus, Vance wants them to explore every opportunity they can. She especially encourages joining a student organization and getting involved with the COB.

Below, Jennifer Vance answers a few questions relating to her experiences on campus:

What extracurricular activities do you participate in?

I’m very involved in the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre. In Schey, I am the VP of Operations and a competitor in Sales Cats. I’m also going into my second year as a Learning Community Leader, and I’m a new member of Select Leaders.

What is one fun fact about you?

I love public speaking! I enjoy having a platform to speak about things I’m passionate about and having the opportunity to influence others in a positive way.

What’s your favorite spot on campus to study?

I love to study in the conference room on the second floor of Copeland late at night and on the weekends. There is a huge window overlooking Court Street. It's much quieter than the library and has the most comfortable chairs!
