Ohio University’s Online Master of Business Administration (MBA) has received top-100 designation in U.S. News & World Report’s 2019 Best Online MBA Programs. The program ranked number 82 out of more than 300 programs.

The College of Business’s Online MBA launched in 2012, and over the past six years has grown significantly despite the proliferation of new online MBA programs around the globe. There are now more than 530 online MBA programs (offered by 147 schools) that are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). This semester, the program enrolled the 140 new students, the highest in the programs short history. The college also strengthened the program recently by adding several new concentrations that allow students to focus on a particular topic such healthcare management or operations and supply chain management.

“We’re proud that our Online MBA program continues to be recognized for its outstanding quality. Our students are also working professionals, so it’s important that we make the most of their time by providing meaningful and applicable learning experiences that will advance their careers,” said Hugh Sherman, dean of OHIO’s College of Business. “The convenience of our program and dedication of our faculty paired with affordability and the opportunity to specialize make this program a tremendous value.”

U.S. News & World Report ranked online programs on quality of student engagement, faculty credentials, technology support and peer reputation, among other criteria. Up seven spots from the 2018 ranking (#89), this year’s ranking also distinguishes OHIO’s online MBA the second-best in the state.

“We strive to set our Online MBA apart from other programs across the state and the country,”  said Dr. William (Bill) Young, associate professor and director of the online MBA program. “The MBA program, along with our other graduate business programs, are continuously refining the program and offering a great ROI to students by keeping up with industry trends and adding new, innovative opportunities for students to become better leaders and managers.”

Over the last several years, OHIO’s College of Business has expanded their online graduate student population and degree offerings considerably. The college launched the Online Master of Accountancy in fall 2018 and the enrolled the first cohort of Online Master of Business Analytics students in January.

“OHIO is truly a global university, from the Athens and regional campuses to living rooms and offices around the world,” Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis said. “This high-quality educational experience is making Ohio into a national destination for online education, and the rankings show our foundation is strong as we continue to grow.”

In the future, the college intends to offer a suite of graduate business certificates and a new Master of Science in Management that leverages stackable certificates to build a custom graduate program experience.
