ATHENS, Ohio (November 14, 2019) – Ohio University’s graduate business program offerings continue to expand with the launch of the Online Master of Science in Management (MSM) and Graduate Business Certificates.

“Over the last three years, we’ve launched several new graduate business programs. And as the market demands new, specialized programs, the College of Business (COB) will continue to strive to meet those needs,” said Hugh Sherman, dean of OHIO’s COB. “By adding the Master of Science in Management and Graduate Business Certificates to our portfolio, we’re better serving working professionals, giving them an opportunity to customize their education in an affordable but highly-ranked business school.”

The Online MSM program is a management degree that enables students to strengthen their leadership skills and managerial acumen needed to manage resources, lead teams, and apply solutions to organizational challenges. The program is customizable with a stackable certificate format. Students begin their coursework with the Management and Leadership Certificate and conclude the program with a capstone. Prior to the capstone, students have the choice of two certificates from this suite:

“You’re earning a very flexible business degree that you create, tailored to your company’s needs. You design your core curriculum depending on your own goals,” said Amy Taylor-Bianco, COB associate professor and MSM program director. “There’s also an abundance of hands-on learning opportunities for students to leverage their work experience towards their degree.”

In addition to the MSM program, working professionals are also able to earn stand-alone Online Graduate Business Certificates from OHIO, allowing students to acquire new skills and a new credential in as few as 21 weeks. Some of the stackable certificates and credits can be applied to other College of Business graduate programs like the Online MBA and Master of Science in Business Analytics. The seven certificates available include:

“We take a strategic approach when it comes to online and distance learning, keeping the student experience as the most important aspect of our program design, embracing new ideas, leveraging faculty expertise and industry needs, and allowing students to customize their experience,” said Heather Lawrence-Benedict, COB associate dean of graduate and professional programs. “The new Graduate Business Certificates will enable students to focus on trending topics that apply directly to their jobs today, while also giving them a distinct advantage in competitive industries.”

Both the MSM and Graduate Business Certificates are designed for working professionals and offer a convenient online format that fits into a busy schedule, using virtual courses and online learning modules. Students applying to the MSM or a Graduate Business Certificate program aren’t required to take the GMAT or GRE, but must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university.
