ATHENS, Ohio (Jun. 16, 2015)  – recently named the Professional Master of Sports Administration (PMSA) Program at Ohio University first in its list of “The Best Online Sport Management Master Degree Programs.”

Rankings are based on program excellence, innovation, student performance, alumni success, faculty, courses available, and institutional recognition.

“We are incredibly proud to have a program that not only pioneered sports education, but one that is consistently recognized as the best in its field," said Hugh Sherman, dean of the College of Business.

SportsBusiness International also has rated the 21-month program the best online postgraduate sports program in the world for the past two years.

The PMSA Program features a core curriculum focusing on sports administration, applied projects and current issues. Students apply business concepts, principles and theories to real-world issues encountered by sports professionals.

“Our curriculum allows professionals to expand and apply their existing knowledge of the sports industry, and prepares them for the next step in their career,” said Norm O’Reilly, chair of the Department of Sports Administration. “Through our group learning environment and unique combination of virtual classes coupled with residencies, we position students for success. That’s why 85 percent of our alumni hold key leadership positions in the industry.”

Ohio University also offers a dual degree where students earn both a Master of Sports Administration and Master of Business Administration. The Commission on Sport Management Accreditation, which promotes and acknowledges excellence in sports management education, accredits both the MSA/MBA dual degree and the PMSA.
