Ryan Sexton, a senior studying marketing and sports management from North Royalton, Ohio, was recently named Delta Sigma Pi’s 2021 East Central Regional Collegian of the Year, the highest honor for the national fraternity’s members. He was recognized for his leadership, achievements, personal character, and participation in the fraternity.
“Being named the Collegian of the Year means so much to me because it shows off the hard work that our chapter has done,” Sexton said. “While I won the official title of the award, I attribute everything to the hard work that my executive committee and the rest of our chapter put in during my term as president. I think this honor shows that we overcame incredible challenges like this pandemic and have set up this organization for success both now and for the foreseeable future, which means a lot to me as a graduating senior.”
Delta Sigma Pi (DSP) was founded in 1925 at OHIO, making it the first professional business fraternity at the University, and one of the first in the United States. Sexton has been a DSP member since spring of 2019 and served as president from November 2019 until November 2020.
He believes that being president of DSP has been his biggest accomplishment so far because of the unique feeling of being elected by his peers and knowing that they trusted him to lead the organization, especially during a pandemic. He also said joining DSP was one of the best decisions he has ever made because of the many ways it has helped him develop professionally, personally, and socially.
