Student Fixed Income Management Group
Gain experience in financial markets at OHIO
Founded in 2005, the Ohio University Student Fixed Income Management Group (OUSFIMG) is a student-run organization that actively manages a $2.8 million portfolio of fixed income securities for the Ohio University Endowment Fund. OUSFIMG reserves $1.4 million for socially responsible investments.
Nothing offers more hands-on learning than actively managing finances for your university.
Members use Bloomberg terminals to research prospective investments and analyze trends, and conduct conference calls with investment professionals. OUSFIMG students also learn crucial research and analysis skills, and investment methodologies that are necessary for success in their future careers.
OUSFIMG gives students exposure to the fixed income market during their college career.
“The Fixed Income Management Group has provided me with unique knowledge and experience which differentiates my college education. Through hard work, I believe I not only have the capability to learn, but the ability to directly apply this learned knowledge and excel in the workplace.”

OUSFIMG only invests in investment-grade debt instruments. This means it invests only in agency mortgage backed securities intuitively backed by the federal government, and corporate bonds from a variety of sectors with a rating of no less than Baa3/BBB-/BBB-. This investment strategy encourages diversity and minimizes risk of credit events.
The group strives for long-term, stable growth of capital and future cash flows through selective asset analysis.
