BELLA'S QUICK BIO
What is your hometown?
When did you start your college search?
I began my college search my junior year of high school.
How did you find Ohio University?
I found Ohio University because I had a few people I knew who went to OU at the time I was looking at colleges.
What do you remember from your college visit?
I remember speaking to the tour guide, him telling me about his upcoming job at J.P. Morgan Chase, and how crazy at the time I thought that was!
Why did you choose OU?
I chose OU because I knew they had a good business school. On a weekend I came to visit my friend at OU, we walked down West Green and I fell in love with the campus. I knew OU was where I was meant to go to school.
THE COB & ATHENS
What are you studying? How did you come to that?
My major is Management and Strategic Leadership. I also have certificates in both Human Resource Management and Global Leadership, as well as a theme in sustainability. I came to this being my area of study by speaking with my advisor about a million times and applying my interests to the curriculum OU offered.
Reflect on your Cluster experience.
My Cluster experience was positive when I reflect on it. I was doing my 200-hour yoga teacher certification during Cluster, and I think that helped me take time for myself during the busy semester. The technical skills I learned during Cluster are incredibly helpful and I don’t think I would have them today if it weren’t for that unique experience.
How else are you involved on campus?
I am the co-chair of recruitment for Select Leaders as well as Consulting Fellows. I am also the Founder and President of Yoga Club.
What do you want to do after graduation?
I will graduate in May 2021 and I hope to have a consulting role upon graduation.
Share about your advisor? Your Career Coach?
My advisor helped make it possible for me to study abroad in Australia my second semester of my freshman year. Lori Mardis goes above and beyond whenever I meet with her and my college experience would not be nearly as amazing as it has been without her! As for my career coach Grace Freidreich, she has helped me discover what I want not only out of college and in a future career, but out of life. Grace is a close mentor and cheerleader of mine and never hesitates to ask me the tricky questions I need to consider. Grace is always available to meet despite her busy schedule and is so passionate about her work. Every interaction I have with her is a pleasure!
What’s a classroom lesson that has stuck with you?
In my learning community my freshman year, John Nobles said to me, “don’t sweat the small stuff and it’s all small stuff.” This has helped me get through every set back I have had thus far, and I know it will continue to do so in the future.
Favorite campus landmark? Place to study? Place to eat? Coffee?
My favorite landmark on campus is the CoLab. The CoLab is always hosting events and is a collaborative space that helps me be productive and have fun doing so. The CoLab is also my favorite place to study. My favorite coffee place is Court Street Coffee because you can try something new each time. Bagel Street Deli is my favorite food place and I have tried every bagel on the menu except 4 (I am working on trying each of them!)
What is your favorite thing about Athens, Ohio?
My favorite part of Athens is the people. Whether that is townies, faculty, or students, there is something about the people of Athens that is so warm and welcoming. I cannot imagine attending school anywhere else.
Would you rather have a rewind button or a pause button on your life, why?
I would rather have a pause button on my life. I am at a great point in my life where I still have enough college left to not be sad about graduating, but I also get to enjoy the perks of being settled in my college routine and feel like I know what I am doing most of the time.
If you could visit any place in the world where would it be and why?
I would visit Antartica because I think it is unlike any other place on the planet and taking a cruise there has been my dream since I was in 4th grade.
What is one thing you can’t live without?
One thing I cannot live without is my planner. Without my planner, I would be so disorganized and never know where I had to be at what time.
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies are hanging out with my friends, practicing yoga, reading, writing, binge watching TedTalks, traveling and exploring the world.
