Get to know second generation Bobcat, marketing representative for the Dean’s Student Advisory Council, and COB double major
JENN'S QUICK BIO
What is your hometown?
When did you start your college search?
My junior year of high school.
How did you find Ohio University?
My parents met at Ohio University and my older sister attended as well, so I had visited campus multiple times before I was in high school. Since so many members of my family went here, I tried to find another university to make my “own experience” but kept coming back to OU.
What do you remember from your college visit?
When I did the official campus tour, I remember groups of people yelling things like “come to OU it’s the best school ever.” After the third time I heard comments like that, I remember thinking how happy people were to attend school here.
Why did you choose OU?
Ultimately I chose OU because of the conviction everyone has for the school. From talking to current students, faculty members, and the alumni I knew, it seemed like nobody had a bad thing to say about their experience. OU truly felt like a home to me, and I was so excited to join the Bobcat family.

What are you studying? How did you come to that?
I am currently a Marketing and Management and Strategic Leadership double major. I started in marketing with an interest in sales, and once I found out I could graduate early, I added a management and strategic leadership major. At the end of my junior year, I was told I could still graduate a semester early!
Reflect on your Cluster experience.
As much as I complained during the semester, Cluster was one of my favorite semesters at OU. I had a lot of fun creating a business plan and making the project my own. As a senior, I still do monthly reunions with my Project 1 group – they are some of the best friends I have made at OU!
How else are you involved on campus?
I am heavily involved in the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre, where I am currently a Co-Chair and on the sales competition team. I am also the Marketing Representative for the Dean’s Student Advisory Council for the class of 2020 and involved in Select Leaders. I work as the office manager in the Sales Centre office and have been a teaching assistant and learning community leader during my time in college as well.
What do you want to do after graduation?
After graduation I would like to be in a business development sales role.
Favorite place to study? Place to eat?
My favorite place to study is in the conference rooms at Copeland Hall. Copeland is much quieter and less busy than the library at night, so I can focus and get my work done. My favorite place to eat on campus is Union Street Diner – their frisco melt is amazing!
What is your favorite thing about Athens, Ohio?
My favorite thing about Athens, Ohio, is the history. The buildings and the bricks are beautiful. I get to pass my dads brick outside of Copeland every day when I go to class.
Would you rather have a rewind button or a pause button on your life, why?
Pause, so I could just enjoy the moment and see things from a different perspective before unpausing.
If you can instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?
Speaking German, I have always thought it is a beautiful language!
Favorite season and why?
Winter! As strange as it sounds, I love the cold. I like bundling up and wearing heavy coats to try and stay warm. I feel like I am more productive during the winter, and I love looking at the snow.
