Diversity and Inclusion
Celebrating diversity and building community
The College of Business recognizes the value that diversity brings to our society and the business world. We make it a priority to create an environment in which our students, faculty and staff value and respect our individual uniqueness; our different cultural backgrounds, viewpoints and experiences. We’re committed to serving the college’s domestic and international diverse populations from the moment they step on campus and look forward to staying connected long after they’ve graduated.
Current Student Opportunities
Black Student Business Caucus
Black Student Business Caucus was established in 1988. Its purpose is to introduce students to the issues of excellence and diversity as well as techniques necessary for survival in the corporate arena. Members participate in an annual business trip, conferences, community service, and current events discussions.
Association for Multicultural Sport Professionals
The Association of Multicultural Sports Professionals at Ohio University was established to support and promote diversity in the sport workforce. It's our duty to build each other professionally through workshops, events and the guidance of the Department of Sports Administration to successfully transition comfortably into a graduate program or professional sports career.
Junior Executive Business Student Organization (JEBSO)
The Junior Executive Business Student Organization provides an opportunity for students to gain leadership and mentoring experience. The group collaborates on ways to welcome prospective students and ensure they feel supported during their transition to OHIO. This includes the planning of Mix and Mingle events that create a conducive and inclusive environment particularly for minority students and peer mentoring for first-year students. Other activities throughout the year include Business Week, a professional development experience where students learn from various speakers throughout the week, and Senior Sendoff, an event to celebrate graduating members.
KeyBank and OHIO’s College of Business have partnered to offer 15 diverse students an $8,000 scholarship that is evenly dispersed over four years. Students in this program will participate in professional development activities to gain the leadership, communication and professional skills needed to successfully transition into the workplace and become future global leaders.
Black Alumni Reunion
The Black Alumni Reunion is an Ohio University tradition that occurs every three years. This weeklong event allows us to reconnect with our graduates and enjoy a weekend of events and learning opportunities. We look forward to welcoming back Business Bobcats from all around the world.
